Diesel School-Bus Exhaust Can Damage Kids’ Lungs and Raise Cancer Risk

That diesel smell outside school is air pollution. Diesel exhaust contains fine particles and toxic chemicals. EPA warns that exposure can damage lungs, worsen respiratory problems and asthma, while long-term exposure is associated with increased lung-cancer risk.

Support no-idling rules for school buses and avoid having children wait directly beside running diesel engines.
