Adult Drug Dealers Can Use Children to Sell Drugs to Other Children

The person selling or carrying drugs at school may be a child while an adult supplier remains out of sight. DEA investigations have documented traffickers recruiting minors and students to carry drugs, sometimes offering money or other incentives. In a federal North Texas case, adult suppliers trafficked counterfeit fentanyl pills through a network of juvenile dealers who then sold them to high-school and middle-school students.

Tip of the Day
Do not ask only whether your child is using drugs. Ask whether anyone has ever asked them to hold, carry, deliver, sell or pass something to another student. Ask whether someone has offered money, free products, gifts or favors in return. Make it very clear that “I was only holding it for someone” can still place them in serious danger. Give your child permission to call you immediately if anyone tries to recruit or pressure them.
