Lead in School Drinking Water Can Damage Kids’ Brains and Development

Clear water is not proof that it is lead-free. Lead can enter school drinking water through older pipes, solder, faucets and plumbing fixtures. There is no known safe blood lead level for children. Exposure can reduce IQ and attention and contribute to learning, behavior, growth and hearing problems.

Ask whether your school tests drinking fountains and faucets for lead. Testing—not taste, smell or appearance—is how lead is detected.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find.” — Matthew 7:7

Ask God for courage to ask important questions when children’s health is involved.
