Lead does not need to look dangerous to cause harm. Old painted surfaces can produce microscopic lead-contaminated dust as they chip, scrape or deteriorate. Children can breathe or swallow that dust. Lead can damage the developing brain and nervous system and contribute to learning, behavior, hearing and growth problems.
In older buildings, peeling paint and renovation dust should never be treated casually. Lead hazards require proper testing and lead-safe procedures.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” — Hosea 4:6
