In a 2026 Miami-Dade case, an arrest report alleged that a high-school teacher gave one student nicotine and THC vapes he had confiscated from other students, while other students also alleged that he provided or offered them vape pens. These are allegations in a criminal case and should not be generalized to school employees as a whole.

Teach your child a simple boundary: no teacher, coach, employee, older friend or other adult should give them a vape, marijuana product or other drug. Tell your child that they can report inappropriate behavior to you without fear of getting in trouble for speaking up. Pay attention if an adult asks your child to keep unusual interactions, gifts or communications secret.
